Ruzhou Celadon Museum

The Ruzhou Celadon Museum is located on the eighth floor of Jinding Times Plaza, Guangcheng Middle Road, Ruzhou City. It covers a construction area of 5,000 square meters and includes an exhibition area for collections, a collection storage area, a cultural relics conservation technology area, a public service area, and an office area. The exhibition area for collections is divided into three exhibition halls and one cultural corridor.

3 Exhibition of Collections

In Hall 1 of the Ruzhou Celadon Museum, the exhibits mainly feature ceramics from the Yaozhou Kiln system, Linru Kiln system, Jun Kiln system, Yue Kiln system, and Longquan Kiln system, along with a selection of proto-porcelain, marbled ware, tri-colored pottery, and specimen fragments of Ruzhou, Guan, and Jun porcelain. Hall 2 primarily displays ceramics from the Cizhou Kiln system, Ding Kiln system, Jian Kiln system, Yaozhou Kiln system, and Yingqing ware, as well as a number of jade artifacts and Buddhist statues. Hall 3 mainly showcases ceramics from the Xing Kiln system and Cizhou Kiln system, along with some Longquan porcelain and Lushan porcelain. The cultural corridor focuses on promoting the culture of Ruzhou’s “Three Treasures,” and also houses a selection of kiln tools and restored Jun porcelain pieces. The museum houses a total of over 1,980 collections.

4 Honors Received

In 2012, the Ruzhou Celadon Museum was awarded the honorary title of “China’s Top Ten Private Museums” by the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce Folk Cultural Relics and Artworks Chamber of Commerce. It was also recognized as a “Science Education Base” and a “Patriotic Education Base” by relevant departments in Ruzhou City. The planned “Chinese Porcelain Capital Cultural Characteristic Block” project, which emphasizes public welfare and social value, will become a cultural tourism destination integrating a plaza, green space, cultural landscapes, exhibition halls, tourism, and business. It will serve as a new cultural landmark for Ruzhou City.

5 Significance of the Museum

The Ruzhou Celadon Museum is a hall of Chinese ceramic art, a palace of five thousand years of Chinese civilization, a prime site for historical relic exhibitions, and a base for contemporary scientific research and education. It will surely promote the development of Ruzhou’s cultural industry, enhance the city’s external image, and elevate its overall urban quality.
