Xuchang Martyrs' Cemetery is a classic red tourism destination, as well as a patriotic education base and national defense education base.

Xuchang Martyrs' Cemetery is located on Changchun Street in Xuchang City. In 1922, the Communist Party organization was established in Xuchang and led the shocking Sitang Peasant Armed Uprising in the Central Plains. In 1933, the Henan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China was set up in Xuchang, and in 1944, the Western Henan Anti-Japanese Base Area and the Shuixi Anti-Japanese Base Area were established. During the Liberation War, Deng Xiaoping, Liu Bocheng, Chen Yi, and Su Yu organized and commanded major battles such as the Eastern Henan Campaign, the Eastern Anhui Campaign, the Liberation of Zhengzhou, and the Liberation of Kaifeng in Xuchang. To commemorate the martyrs who sacrificed their lives, the cemetery was first built in 1951, covering an area of 37,000 square meters. It is divided into five functional areas: the Martyrs’ Memorial and Education Zone, the Martyrs’ Tomb Area, the Stele Forest Area, the Youth Activity Area, and the Recreation Area. The site includes a Revolutionary Martyrs Monument, a Memorial Square, a Revolutionary Martyrs Memorial Hall, a Stele Forest, and the Yizhai Memorial Pavilion, among others. It is the burial place of 471 martyrs. The cemetery is a provincial-level martyrs' memorial facility protection unit in Henan Province, as well as a provincial patriotic education base and a provincial national defense education base in Henan.
