Wenshu Hall of Kunlun Temple is a cultural tourism attraction.

Wenshu Hall of Kunlun Temple is located in Zhangwan Village, Hongchang Town, Yuzhou City. It has garnered significant attention due to the two exquisite murals preserved on the eastern and western gable walls inside the hall. In 2009, it was designated as a municipal-level cultural heritage site by the Xuchang Municipal Government. The Wenshu Hall is a mid-Qing Dynasty structure, featuring a three-bay width, a single-bay depth, a front porch, a single-eave flush-gable roof style, and is covered with gray tiles. Due to years of weathering, wars, and neglect, the building and its interior murals were severely damaged before restoration — the roof leaked, walls had cracks, the front wall had been altered, and the murals were peeling and flaking. To rescue and protect the murals of Kunlun Temple and the associated architecture, with the support of the municipal government, the city’s cultural relics bureau scientifically planned a series of projects including mural replication, mural detachment and preservation, Wenshu Hall restoration, and repainting of the murals, which have been gradually implemented. In 2011, the replicated murals were exhibited at the Xuchang Museum; from December 2 to 19, 2013, mural information and data were collected, and the murals were carefully detached on-site. The detached murals were safely transported to the Henan Ancient Murals Conservation Center for restoration. Recently, the restoration of the Wenshu Hall building was successfully completed, and after the Spring Festival, the painting and restoration of the murals on the eastern and western gable walls will begin in April 2014.
