Qinyang Shennong Altar is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

Introduction:

The Shennong Altar Scenic Area is located at the southern foot of the Taihang Mountains, 25 kilometers northwest of Qinyang City, Jiaozuo, Henan Province. Covering a total area of 50.2 square kilometers, it is a provincial-level scenic spot. It is named after the legendary Emperor Yan (Shennong), who is said to have planted the five grains and tasted hundreds of herbs here. The area consists of eight major scenic zones: Zijin Peak, Yunyang River, Xianshen River, Black Dragon Pool, White Pine Ridge, Lincun Temple, Xuangu Valley Mountain, and Yaoshun Path.

The Shennong Altar Scenic Area combines openness, seclusion, serenity, and beauty. It embodies the rugged vigor of the north as well as the delicate grace of the south, bringing together the essence of the Taihang Mountains. With its overlapping peaks, secluded caves, lush forests, diverse medicinal herbs, and ever-changing scenery, it presents a fairy-tale landscape reminiscent of Penglai. The Shennong Altar area is part of the ancient Central Plains culture, featuring numerous cultural heritage sites from the Yangshao, Longshan, Xia, and Shang dynasties. Having endured through the Sui, Tang, Five Dynasties, Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties, it encapsulates thousands of years of Central Plains civilization.
