Jiaozuo Huadi Gang Site (Chongyi Site)

The Jiaozuo Huadi Gang Site (Chongyi Site) is a cultural heritage protection unit of Henan Province.

The Huadi Gang Site is located west of Fan Village in Chongyi Township, 20 kilometers southwest of Qinyang County. The site stretches 400 meters from east to west and 350 meters from north to south, covering an area of 140,000 square meters, with a cultural layer about 3 meters thick, divided into four periods. Miaodigou Type or Wangwan Phase I: Red pottery with a flared mouth bowl, small-mouth high-neck jar, and small-mouth pointed-bottom bottle were discovered, especially the cockscomb-shaped handle ears, which are distinctly characteristic. Longshan Culture Period: Gray pottery with flat-bottomed bowls, basket-patterned, and checkered gray pottery jars were found, all featuring characteristics of the late Longshan Culture. Erlitou Type: Pottery jars and similar food vessels to those of Erlitou Phase II culture—shallow-bellied flat-bottomed basins and round-bottomed basins—were discovered, among which the flanged-rim jars are the most representative of the era. Eastern Zhou Period: Food vessels with dark-line wavy patterns were found. In June 1963, it was announced as one of the first batch of provincial-level cultural heritage protection units in Henan Province.
