Cliffside Carvings of Taiping Temple in Zhaijian Valley

The Cliffside Carvings of Taiping Temple in Zhaijian Valley are a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The Cliffside Carvings of Taiping Temple in Zhaijian Valley are located on the steep cliffs of Xuangu Mountain on the northern side of the Taihang Mountains, about 30 kilometers northwest of Qinyang County. There are currently three caves and six niches, featuring carvings of bodhisattvas, monks, Taoist priests, Heavenly King figures, and Vajra guardians. One of the caves has 1,251 carved figures on its four walls, each with a name and the carving period inscribed. The carvings span various dynasties from the Tang to the Qing, with distinct characteristics evident in works from the Tang, Song, Ming, and Qing dynasties, some bearing exact inscriptions.

In May 2013, the Cliffside Carvings of Taiping Temple in Zhaijian Valley were listed as part of the seventh group of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units.
