Guozhuang Site

The Guozhuang Site is a cultural heritage protection unit of Dengzhou City.

The Guozhuang Site is located on the southern bank of the Yanling River in Guozhuang Village, Bainiu Township, about 16 kilometers northeast of Dengzhou City. The site features a gentle slope, covering an area of approximately 60,000 square meters, with cultural layers 1–2 meters thick. It was discovered in 1979 and designated as a county-level cultural heritage protection unit in 1985.

The Guozhuang Site was discovered following a flood in the Yanling River in 1979. Artifacts collected at the site include stone tools such as stone axes, adzes, and chisels, as well as pottery items such as cups, bowls, tripods, jars, and spinning wheels. The pottery is mainly red and gray, with decorations including incised patterns, rope patterns, and checkerboard patterns. Some animal fossils have also been found.

The Guozhuang Site is a Neolithic settlement primarily associated with the Yangshao and Longshan cultures, and holds significant archaeological value for the study of Dengzhou's prehistoric culture.
