The Tomb of Du Mao is a cultural relic protection unit of Nanyang City.

Tomb of Du Mao

The Tomb of Du Mao was built during the Han Dynasty. The tomb mound is approximately 4 meters high and 40 meters in diameter, shaped like a round hill. The Ming Dynasty’s *Dengzhou Annals from the Jiajing Era* records: “The Tomb of Du Mao is thirty li to the west (south) of the prefecture.” Du Mao, courtesy name Zhugong, was a native of Guan County. He initially joined Emperor Guangwu in Hebei and served as a Central Vanguard General. In the early Jianwu era, he was promoted to Grand General for his meritorious service in defeating the Five Bandits, later becoming a Cavalier-in-Chief General. At that time, Lu Fang allied with the Xiongnu to raid the borders. Du Mao mobilized border troops to build watchtowers and maintain signal fires, leading to Lu Fang’s surrender of his cities. Initially enfeoffed as the Marquis of Lexiang, he was later granted the title of Marquis of Guangwu for his achievements in defeating Peng Pang, and eventually confirmed as the Marquis of Canju Township.

The Tomb of Du Mao is located in Konglou Village, Wenqu Township, Dengzhou City. Provincial Road Yu 53 passes nearby, making transportation convenient. It is 30 km from the Neixiang County Yamen, 10 km from the Wulonggang in Nanyang, 90 km from Longzhong in Xiangyang, 165 km from Mount Wudang, and about 15 km from various tourist attractions in downtown Dengzhou.

The Tomb of Du Mao is a municipal-level cultural relic protection unit, marked with a protective signpost and overseen by a dedicated cultural relics protection officer.
