The Shangyi Tuchengzi Site is a cultural tourism attraction.

The Tuchengzi Site is situated within Tuchengzi Village, Shangyi County, located in Sanguardian Town. It lies at the junction of Hebei and Inner Mongolia, bordering Xinghe County of Inner Mongolia to the west and east. The site is constructed on a raised terrace on the northern side of the Erlong River. The ancient city features an east-west layout, approximately 1,100 meters long from east to west and 1,006 meters wide from north to south, with a total area of about 1,050,000 square meters. From a military defense perspective, the city is strategically positioned along the Erlong River, situated on high ground, which gave it significant military strategic importance.

Tuchengzi Village is built directly upon the site, and within the village, artifacts such as clay and gray pottery roof tiles, broken tiles, and gray pottery fragments—washed out by water—can often be found. This indicates that the village was established directly over the ruins of previously destroyed buildings. Behind the village, in the farmland, there are remains of a large building foundation, measuring about 100 meters east-west and 50 meters north-south, suspected to be a smaller inner city. To determine its cultural and chronological attributes, the Hebei Provincial Archaeological Team conducted investigations here. A large number of artifacts bearing typical characteristics of the Northern Wei Dynasty confirmed the Northern Wei cultural affiliation of the Tuchengzi Site.

The Tuchengzi Site is located on the Bashang Plateau, a transitional zone where ancient agricultural and nomadic civilizations collided and merged. In June of this year, it was designated as a sixth batch National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit by the State Council.

Sanguardian Town: Established in 1954 in Shangyi County, Sanguardian was built as the third construction site for resettling migrants from the Guanting Reservoir project, hence the name. Located in western Hebei Province, at the junction of Hebei, Shanxi, and Inner Mongolia, it serves as a golden corridor connecting inland China with Hebei and Inner Mongolia, and as an economic convergence point among the three regions. Provincial Highway 133, a secondary road, runs through the town, providing convenient transportation. It is also a vital route for the three million mu of vegetables from neighboring Inner Mongolia areas.
