“The Toughest Woman on Earth” Janet Dives into Kinmen’s Battlefield & Takes a Nasty Fall on the Wrong Shoes on the Wire

Janet led members from India, Canada, and Australia to Kinmen to unveil the mysteries of the former battlefield and deliver a hardcore soldier-style boot camp. Always daring, Janet kicked off the first challenge by taking these foreign rookies—who had never been in the military—to Liuying for a high-altitude challenge. They competed to walk across a wire suspended up to three stories, about nine meters high. She even boldly declared: “Thinking of beating me? Not so easy—I’m the real deal, a true tough girl!” It turns out Janet had previously taken on high-altitude ropes, but just as they started practicing on the ground, she took a nasty tumble on the wire because of the wrong shoes.

The “Crazy Taiwan” series invited popular video bloggers from around the world for the first time to film “Crazy Taiwan All-Stars,” incorporating their footage into the show to offer viewers unique perspectives on Taiwan through foreign eyes. As the trip neared its end, Janet specially brought them to the mysterious battlefield of Kinmen and prepared an intense military experience.

Located on Nanlu of Kinmen’s Ring Road, the “Liuying Infantry Military Experience Park” was formerly the Shangyi Engineer Camp. The Kinmen County Government revitalized the area, allowing the public to closely experience the cultural characteristics of a battlefield. Outdoor enthusiast Mike Corey was the most excited of the bunch—not only eager to take on the military challenges but also fascinated by Kinmen’s tunnels and wartime heritage sites, making him a blue-eyed old soul. Meanwhile, Chinese-Australian Connie had a special emotional connection to Kinmen, being so close to Xiamen.

At the Liuying Infantry Military Experience Park, the most thrilling and terrifying part was the high-altitude experience—participants had to climb, scale a three-story tower, and walk across a 400-meter-long wire. Having previously tackled high wires, Janet confidently said: “I’ve got the responsibility of being a senior, I can’t let the team down. Though I once walked for over an hour on my own.” But just during ground practice, Janet slipped and nearly fell due to the wrong shoes, eventually sitting on the wire and yelling, “I need to change my shoes!” Mike joked back, “That’ll cost you 20 push-ups.” Connie, meanwhile, kept losing her balance during ground wire practice and screamed in fear upon reaching the tower: “I don’t want to, leave me alone!” Savi and Vid were constantly flashing photos, taking selfies non-stop even on the wire, blinding everyone around them.

After finally completing the challenge, even the physically fit Mike Corey exclaimed, “This is seriously super hard!” The two girls, Connie and Savi, hesitated to start and, after mustering the courage to move forward halfway, quickly ran out of energy, struggling to take each step. Vid collapsed onto the ground the moment he finished, completely exhausted. Only Janet remained full of energy, saying, “Giving up already? This afternoon we’ve got an even more intense paintball match. The winner gets a military medal!” Hearing this, everyone perked up, competing to be the top sniper of Kinmen. The brand-new season of “Crazy Taiwan All-Stars” will premiere in the second quarter of 2016, letting global audiences and netizens help hype up the beauty of Taiwan.
