New Year trip to Kinmen: Bike freely and explore glow-in-the-dark tunnels

As the Year of the Horse gallops in, the Kinmen County Government invites everyone to celebrate the New Year. From January 31 to February 4, 2014 (Lunar New Year’s Day to the fifth day), a series of events will be held. Dynamic activities include: high and low-altitude exploration facilities at the Liuying Infantry Experience Park (open until February 9, 2014, the tenth day of the Lunar New Year), "Iron Horse Spirit" – a bike freedom tour, and "Glow-in-the-Dark Tunnel Adventure" to welcome the New Year; while static activities include: the famous artillery performance at the Shishan Artillery Fort, battery car tours at Ancient Dragon Head, the “Wuzhou Tour” – an island-wide sightseeing bus trip, and a collective viewing of the New Year film at Julu Tower. These dynamic and static options cater to all preferences, and the county government sincerely invites all Kinmen residents to join in the festivities. The detailed schedule is as follows:

I. Liuying Infantry Experience Park Tour
Time: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM, 1:30 PM – 4:00 PM
Location: Next to Shangyi Village, Jinhu (between Shangyi Village and the Chen Jinglan Western-style Building in Chenkeng Village)

II. Shishan Artillery Fort Experience Tour
Time: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM, 1:30 PM – 5:30 PM
Artillery Drill Times: 10:00 AM, 11:00 AM, 1:30 PM, 2:30 PM, 3:30 PM, 4:30 PM
Location: Shishan Artillery Fort, Jinsha Township (beside Yangsha Road)

III. The Revived Charm of Crab Eye Spring on Mount Taiwu
Opening Hours: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM, 1:30 PM – 4:00 PM
Location: Left side of the Mount Taiwu Visitor Service Center　

IV. Ignite Imagination – Light & Sound Shows at Julu Tower, Julu Lake, Jian Gong Islet, and Seaside Park
Time: 6:30 PM – 9:30 PM, one show every half hour and on the hour daily (each show lasts 3–6 minutes)
Location: Julu Tower, Julu Lake, by the Wujian River, and Jincheng Seaside Park

V. Ancient Dragon Head Pilgrimage (Low-Carbon Tour of Lincao Artillery Fort, War History Museum, and Beishan Broadcasting Wall)
Time: 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM, 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Pickup Location: Peace Memorial Park (Lincao Artillery Fort) – departure times

VI. Soaring Journey – A Spring Stroll Along Mount Taiwu’s Mingde Path
Time: 8:40 AM – 3:50 PM
Meeting Points: Shanwai Station, Jincheng Station, and Shamei Station
※ Participants must bring their National ID card (or a photo-bearing health insurance card, driver’s license, passport, etc. for ROC nationals; underage family members may use a household registration booklet instead; limited to Republic of China nationals)
VII. Wuzhou Tour – Island-Wide Sightseeing Bus Trip　

Time: Operates in a shuttle format from Shanwai Station, Shamei Station, and Jincheng Station, with fixed daily schedules.
(Each route has a bus departing every half hour.)
Buses. (Buses on each route depart every half hour.)
Sightseeing routes: Shuitou-Zhai Mountain Line, Guningtou Battlefield Line, Shishan Folk Village Line, Rongyuan Taihu Line

VIII. The Spirit of Cycling ─ Self-Guided Bike Tours
Residents can borrow bicycles at bike rental stations located at Kincheng, Jinhu, and Jinsha bus stations, as well as at the Forestry Station, Chen Jinglan Western-style House, Lieyu Cultural Hall,
and Shuangli Lake Natural Wetland Center.

IX. Salute to Heavy Artillery ─ Hsi-pi 240mm Howitzer
Drill times: 10:00 AM, 11:00 AM, 2:00 PM, 3:00 PM, 4:00 PM
Location: Near Hsi-pi Beach in Jinhu Township
Admission requirements: Participants must bring their National ID card (or a photo-bearing health insurance card, driver’s license, or passport;
for Taiwanese citizens and their minor dependents, a household registration booklet is acceptable — Republic of China citizenship only)

X. Glow Stick Cave Walk to Welcome the New Year
5,000 glow sticks will be provided for a unique civil defense tunnel experience
Entry times: 10:30, 11:30, 13:30, 14:30, 15:30, 16:30, 17:30, 18:30,
19:30, 20:30
Location: Kincheng Civil Defense Tunnel

XI. Welcome the Year of the Horse ─ Dice Throwing & Prizes
Dice game experience time: 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM
Location: General’s Office

XII. New Year Film Screenings
Screening times: 9:30 AM, 3:00 PM, 7:00 PM
Location: Chukuang Building
