Century Peace Bell Tower
The Century Peace Bell Tower is located on the east side within the compound of Nanhai Temple in Runan. It is a three-story, antique-style square tower structure, standing 34.6 meters tall with a floor area of 772.84 square meters. Each of the four sides on the first floor has an arched gate, and the outer walls are adorned with carvings of the Great Wall, flowers and birds, small bridges, ancient temples, and 2,000 peace doves. The second and third floors both feature enclosed corridors that taper inward as they rise. Inside the tower is a 21-ton Century Peace Bell, cast in 1999 to welcome the new century and pray for world peace. Photo by Li Feng.
