Yuni Imperial Stele Pavilion
The Yuni Imperial Stele Pavilion is a cultural tourism attraction.
The Imperial Stele Pavilion is located in Wuying Pagoda Park in the southern part of Runan County. Inside the pavilion stands a marble stele with the words “Imperial Decree for Burial” inscribed at the top, surrounded by high-relief carvings of a pair of dragons playing with a pearl (the phrase “Imperial Decree for Burial” refers to a funeral ceremony authorized by imperial decree, indicating that this stele was bestowed by the emperor). The inscription on the stele records the noble character and virtuous conduct—marked by both chastity and filial piety—of a woman surnamed Zhang from Runing Prefecture (now Runan County), while also expressing the hope that her virtues would be celebrated for generations to come. The stele is dated the second year of the Chongzhen reign during the Ming Dynasty.
