Huangfan District Ecological Tourism Area

Huangfan District Ecological Tourism Area is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Huangfan District Ecological Tourism Area is affiliated with Huangfan District Farm, which was established in January 1951 under the instruction of Premier Zhou Enlai. The pioneers devoted their youth and wisdom to this magical land of Huangfan District, striving to write a new chapter for Huangfan District Farm.

Seventy years have passed in the blink of an eye. Through the relentless efforts of generations of people in Huangfan District, what was once a barren land where “no cooking smoke could be seen for miles and only yellow sand swept across the empty city,” has now been transformed into a “Pearl of the Central Plains” that boasts fragrant flowers and fruits, lush forests and abundant grain, and is suitable for tourism, living, and business. Huangfan District Ecological Tourism Area is built upon the large-scale modern agricultural reclamation enterprise located in the heart of Huangfan District—Huangfan District Farm.

The scenic area features natural attractions such as a ten-thousand-mu contiguous peach blossom park, a golden pear demonstration area, a cherry blossom avenue, and an agricultural leisure and picking garden. It also integrates patriotic education bases, social science popularization bases, and primary and secondary school archival education social practice bases, including the Huangfan District Farm History Museum (Huangfan District Museum) and the former residence of General Wang Jinshan. It serves as an ecological tourism area that combines red education and sightseeing tourism. With a total investment of 510 million yuan, covering an area of 18.88 square kilometers, it is located at the intersection of S329 and S89, just 5 kilometers from the Xihua West Station of the Jichangxi (Airport-Xihua) Expressway, ensuring convenient transportation. As a modern agricultural demonstration area, the scenic area is well-planned, fully equipped, with simple and honest local customs, fresh air, and profound historical and cultural heritage.

Since its opening in April 2017, the scenic area has offered free public access, receiving a cumulative total of over 300,000 visitors annually. The farm has successively invested 510 million yuan of its own funds to strengthen infrastructure construction, vigorously develop leisure and sightseeing agriculture, establish picking gardens, promote agricultural sightseeing tourism, build the Huangfan District Farm History Museum (Huangfan District Museum), promote agricultural reclamation cultural tourism, and facilitate the integration of the primary, secondary, and tertiary industries. Small-town development has implemented “greening, beautification, purification, lighting, and refinement” to comprehensively enhance the town’s “appearance.” The “Third August River” riverside landscape belt and central garden have been constructed to create a beautiful small town with water, flowers, fruit, and greenery. Meanwhile, in line with the red cultural tourism route, the Huangfan District Farm History Museum (Huangfan District Museum) has been meticulously designed and built, the former residence of General Wang Jinshan has been restored, and infrastructure for red tourism education bases has been improved. The Huangfan District Farm History Museum (Huangfan District Museum) has been awarded the title of “Patriotic Education” Demonstration Base by Zhoukou City.
