Woniu Mountain Tourist Area

The Woniu Mountain Tourist Area is located in the central part of Huailai County, Hebei Province, 97 kilometers from Beijing and 100 kilometers from Zhangjiakou City. The scenic area lies north of National Highway 110, south of the “Pearl of the North” Guanting Lake, backed by mountains on one side and surrounded by water on three sides, covering a total area of 750,000 square meters. The natural landscape resembles a giant cow lying on the water surface, with the mountain ridge forming the cow’s back and the foothills resembling the cow’s head. When a breeze blows and the water ripples and makes sounds, it seems as if a divine cow is drinking from the lake and sending echoes across the water.

Woniu Mountain is one of the four small wonders of the Huailai Basin. With distinct seasons, it enjoys beautiful scenery nestled between mountains and water. Its temples and halls are splendid and elegant, while flowers, plants, and trees thrive luxuriantly. Dozens of wooden villas dot the green-covered slopes, each with its own unique style. On closer exploration, the Guanyin Temple, Bixia Shrine, and a thousand-year-old ancient pagoda exude a sense of mystery and tranquility. In the distance, the 80,000-acre lake shimmers with rippling waves and stretches endlessly. The climate within the scenic area is pleasant, free from industrial pollution, with fresh and clean air. In summer, gentle breezes bring cool relief, making it an ideal place to escape the heat. Dozens of varieties of wild mountain vegetables found on the mountains and lakeshores, when uniquely processed, are truly delightful.

The scenic area offers comprehensive food and accommodation facilities, with over 100 beds in high, medium, and low categories. It can host conferences for up to 100 people, and the restaurant accommodates 200 diners at once, allowing visitors to enjoy freshly caught aquatic products from Guanting Lake after a day's activities.

Additionally, the scenic area is just 30 kilometers from famous attractions such as Badaling and Longqing Gorge. Within a 20-kilometer radius, there are numerous distinctive sites including Tianhuangshan Grottoes, Tiansha Park, Yongding River Canyon Rafting, Kangxi Grassland, Huangdi City, and Rongchen Grape Manor, forming a golden loop of tourist hotspots in western Beijing.
