The Landmine Warfare Scenic Area is located 10 kilometers north of Haiyang City and is a national AAA-level tourist attraction. It was established based on the courageous actions of Haiyang residents during the Anti-Japanese War, who created homemade landmines to resist Japanese forces and protect their homes, along with historical elements such as the iconic red film "Landmine Warfare." It is the largest red tourism area in northern China and has been recognized as a “Yantai Patriotic Education Base,” “Youth Education Base,” “Party Member Training Base,” and “Shandong Provincial Tourism Photography Creation Base.”

Today, it is a large-scale comprehensive tourist destination that integrates natural scenery, leisure holidays, entertainment, and adventure. The area features majestic peaks, overlapping ridges, crisscrossing ravines, cascading waterfalls, and flowing springs. There are both awe-inspiring stone forest landscapes and delicate, elegant rural charm. The scenic area offers a grand live-action performance of "Landmine Warfare" that combines visual appeal, educational value, and entertainment. Using real fireworks and pyrotechnics, along with professional martial arts stunt performers, it brings you back to the war-torn years and allows you to relive that smoky era. Visitors can explore the Folk Culture Street and sample various local snacks, visit the Three Major Waterfalls and Three Major Stones commemorating the militia heroes, and enjoy adventure activities such as suspension bridges, couple’s bridges, rafting, and retracing the Long March Trail, all designed for thrill-seekers. The Landmine Warfare Exhibition Hall recreates the magnificent scene of the Haiyang militia actively joining the resistance and civilians vigorously supporting the front lines during the war through a wealth of photos and artifacts. Additionally, exhibits of Jiaodong folk items offer deeper insights into the local customs of Haiyang during that time.

In 1942, when Japanese invaders set foot in Haiyang, the intelligent people of Haiyang, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, valiantly resisted the enemy. With the motto “No iron mines? We’ll make stone mines,” they developed over 30 types of landmines and launched the historic and nationally renowned Haiyang Landmine Warfare, making a successful contribution to the overall victory of the war. The Landmine Warfare Tourist Area is built upon this real historical foundation. It is also the actual filming location of the 1962 classic film "Landmine Warfare." The area is a large-scale comprehensive tourist destination integrating live-action performances – "Landmine Warfare", exhibitions of real items used by militia heroes, a large-scale exhibition hall on the Jiaodong Anti-Japanese War, youth education, party member learning bases, film and television shooting locations, natural attractions, leisure vacations, and adventure activities.

The Landmine Warfare Memorial Hall exhibition hall includes over 200 historical photographs as well as auxiliary exhibits such as charts, oil paintings, gouache paintings, sculptures, and diorama paintings. The exhibition is divided into six sections: National Crisis and Joining the Resistance; Landmine Warfare Terrifies the Invaders and Defends the Coast, Elevating National Prestige; 105 Days of Soul-Stirring Anti-Sweeping Campaigns and Over 60 Bombing Villages at Penzi Mountain; Heroes Create the Landmine Homeland, and the Landmine Homeland Produces Heroes; The Glorious Legacy Echoes Through History, and Revolutionary Spirit Illuminates Future Generations; Achieving New Leaps, Building a New Haiyang. The new hall uses figures, diorama paintings, and modern display methods such as sound, light, and electricity to recreate the intense scenes of landmine warfare, and features interactive scenarios allowing visitors to engage and immerse themselves in the experience.

The scenic area boasts beautiful mountains and clear waters, offering fresh air and a rare natural oxygen bar. Along the way, you can see replicas of Haiyang-style residences built during the filming, waterfalls such as Zhao Hu (Summon Tiger), Zhao Fu (Summon Fortune), and Er Man commemorating militia heroes, as well as significant stones such as La Xian Shi (String-Pulling Stone), Zhen Yao Shi (Monster-Suppressing Stone), and Wang Wang Shi (Watchtower Stone), which made great contributions to the war effort. The exhibition hall uses a wealth of photos and artifacts to recreate the moving scene of Haiyang militia actively joining the Anti-Japanese War and local people strongly supporting the front line. They also invented dozens of types of landmines, making indelible contributions to the war. The Landmine Warfare Film and Television Exhibition Hall, opened in 2014, centers around landmine warfare and follows diverse and distinctive design principles. It employs symbolic and metaphorical expression techniques, using rich display formats to deliver concentrated content, a clear theme, and a profound impression. Here, you can follow in the footsteps of martyrs and experience their indomitable revolutionary spirit, seamlessly integrated with tourism development. The site fully explores the cultural, historical, educational, social, tourism, and economic values of the landmine warfare.
