Guojia Village Ruins

The Guojia Village Ruins are a cultural heritage site protected by Laizhou City.

The Guojia Village Ruins are located to the east of Guojia Village in Shahe Town, Laizhou City, approximately 800 meters west of the Rongwu Expressway. To the north, they are adjacent to the east-west road from Tushan Town to Xiaqiu Town, with the Da Shuhe River flowing nearby. The ruins stretch about 250 meters from north to south and 140 meters from east to west, forming a rectangular platform with a slight rise in the center, covering a total area of about 30,000 square meters. They were discovered during the second national cultural relics survey in the 1980s. Cultural strata, about 0.5–2.5 meters thick, are visible on the eastern cliff of the platform, along with exposed ash pits. The surface and ash pits contain a large number of pottery fragments, with collected samples including bases and rims. Identifiable artifacts include jars, basins, li tripods, and ding tripods. The pottery fragments consist of two types: red-brown sandy pottery and gray clay pottery, most of which are plain, with fine corded patterns as the main decorative motif. Based on the analysis of collected samples, the ruins contain remains from the Yueshi Culture, Zhishui Phase II, Zhenzhu Gate Culture, and the Zhou Dynasty. The western side of the ruins has been damaged to varying degrees, but other parts remain well-preserved. Shahe Town, where the Guojia Ruins are located, has historically been an important town south of the city, with the ancient Dangli City Site and the Luwang Road Han Dynasty Ruins situated to its northwest. The Guojia Village Ruins hold significant importance for the study of the historical culture of the Laizhou region.

In 2012, they were designated as a Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit of Laizhou City.
