The Jiaodong First County Committee Revolutionary History and Culture Exhibition Hall is a classic red tourism destination and a base for patriotic education.

The Jiaodong First County Committee Revolutionary History and Culture Exhibition Hall is situated on the campus of Haidu College, Qingdao Agricultural University in Laiyang City (the former site of the Laiyang Prefectural Committee Office), covering a construction area of 822 square meters. Eleven rooms of the original office building have been restored, and the overall architectural layout adopts a “回” (double-loop) structure. The outer ring combines photographic materials, text descriptions, and physical objects, while the inner ring utilizes supplementary methods such as paintings, photography, and multimedia to showcase the history of the Communist Party of China’s establishment and growth in Laiyang. The exhibition hall has been officially approved as a “Shandong Provincial Patriotic Education Base,” a “Revolutionary Tradition Education Base of the Yantai Municipal Party School,” and a “Yantai Municipal Patriotic Education Base,” becoming a comprehensive venue that highlights the red culture of Jiaodong.

The exhibits in the Jiaodong First County Committee Revolutionary History and Culture Exhibition Hall are mainly arranged according to revolutionary historical periods and are divided into: “The Spark of Jiaodong” (covering the first and second domestic revolutionary wars), “The Fury of the Five Dragons” (the War of Resistance against Japan), “Banners at Dawn” (the Liberation War period), and “Monument on Red Cliffs” (featuring key figures in the revolution). Additionally, there is a supplementary section titled “Songs of the Prefecture,” which outlines a brief history of the Laiyang Prefectural Committee Office from 1950 to 1958. The exhibition includes over 30,000 words of text, 320 images, and 205 physical objects, vividly recreating the revolutionary spirit of the Communists and people of Laiyang—characterized by hard struggle, unyielding perseverance, relentless progress, and the courage to achieve victory. It serves not only as a testament to revolutionary history and culture but also as an important platform for patriotic and revolutionary tradition education among Party members, cadres, the general public, and young people.

The Jiaodong First County Committee Revolutionary History and Culture Exhibition Hall strictly adheres to the requirements of various levels of government regarding service, safety, and education. It conscientiously implements regulations to ensure orderly reception work. In terms of staffing, there are currently three guides and five support staff. For safety management, surveillance cameras and infrared alarms have been installed in all passages within the exhibition hall, and it has been incorporated into the key patrol system of the Haidu College police station. Regarding tour content, professional personnel have been invited to tailor scripts for different audiences and timeframes, ensuring the completeness of the narrative, the emotional impact of the revolutionary stories, and the inheritance of the revolutionary spirit, while also enhancing the educational effectiveness of the tours.

Since its establishment, the Jiaodong First County Committee Revolutionary History and Culture Exhibition Hall has served as a base for mass line education and practice activities, new Party member training for government and enterprise units, social practice for primary and secondary school students, and winter training for the military. The hall has hosted over 70,000 visitors for patriotic and revolutionary tradition education. It has also integrated with training programs such as the Laiyang Municipal Party School’s Young and Middle-aged Cadres Class, Party Branch Secretaries Training, High-Level Talents Program, and Civil Servant Training to deliver on-site teaching. Taking important holidays such as Tomb-Sweeping Day, July 1st, and National Day as focal points, the hall organizes a variety of characteristic patriotic education activities—such as art exhibitions, photography shows, “Young Pioneers” guide competitions, and red poetry recitals—to comprehensively promote unique patriotic education initiatives and deeply carry forward the spirit of Jiaodong’s red culture.
