Darushan Coastal Tourism Resort is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction and a national water conservancy scenic area.

Darushan Coastal Tourism Resort is located in Rushan City, Weihai, situated at the southern tip of the Jiaodong Peninsula. It borders the Yellow Sea, with driving distances of about one hour to the three major tourist cities of Qingdao, Yantai, and Weihai. Facing South Korea and Japan across the sea, it is an important destination along the Jiaodong Peninsula’s “golden” coastline.

Centered around the uniquely scenic “Darushan” (Big Breast Mountain), the resort spans a total area of 52 square kilometers both on land and sea. It boasts comprehensive coastal resources including mountains, sea, beaches, bays, and islands, with rich landscapes and a beautiful environment. Mountains meet the sea and bays, while lakes complement the beaches. It offers the romance of Sanya and the beauty of Qiandao Lake. The climate is mild—with warm springs and autumns, and cool winters and summers—boasting an average annual temperature of 11.4 degrees Celsius.

Relying on Weihai’s initiative to create a “Thousand-Mile Happy Coastline,” and themed around the cultural concept of “maternal love, warmth, and wellness in a blessed land,” the resort has developed over three years into a large-scale comprehensive leisure tourism destination integrating “sightseeing, vacationing, health and wellness, and cultural entertainment.” The excellent traditional Chinese culture of “maternal love, loving mothers, respecting mothers, and repaying mothers” is celebrated here. The resort has been successively honored as an “Internationally Renowned Tourist Destination,” an “International Ecotourism Demonstration Base,” and one of China’s “Top Ten Leisure Destinations.” The United Nations Youth Technology Training Organization has established a youth training base here; the China Women’s Photography Association has set up a photography creation base; and the China Mother’s Day Promotion Association and the International Leisure Industry Association have respectively established forum venues here.

Featured attraction: Mother Mountain (Darushan): In Rushan, along the coast of the Yellow Sea east of Qingdao, there stands a mountain. Compared to Mount Tai, it is not particularly tall; compared to Huangshan, it lacks some of its charm. But because its shape resembles a large breast, it is called Darushan (Big Breast Mountain). As such, the mountain naturally carries the reverence associated with a Mother Mountain or Mother’s Mountain.
