Mashishan Scenic Area

Mashishan Scenic Area is a national AA-level tourist attraction.

Mashishan is one of the famous mountains in eastern Shandong, located in the northwest of Rushan City. Here, the peaks are majestic, the mountain terrain is steep, the forests are dense, and the rocks are oddly shaped, offering many wonders and retaining the unique beauty of pristine mountain forests. Mashishan was also the site of the horrifying "Mashishan Massacre" committed by the Japanese army during the War of Resistance against Japan. In 1972, the Rushan County government built a martyrs' cemetery on Mashishan to commemorate the compatriots who died, showcasing the heroic deeds of numerous martyrs including the Ten Heroes, providing a place for people to mourn and honor the spirits.

Today’s Mashishan features fragrant orchards at the foot of the mountain and lush pines and cypresses on the mountain. The revolutionary martyrs’ memorial tower standing proudly at the main peak and the solemn revolutionary martyrs’ memorial hall on the sunny slope add a sense of reverence to the picturesque Mashishan. The Mashishan Martyrs' Cemetery has become an important patriotic education base.
