Jingtan Ancient Village

Jingtan Ancient Village is located 15 kilometers southwest of Qingzhou City, Shandong Province. Built in the seventh year of the Jingtai era during the Ming Dynasty (1456), it is an ancient village that has withstood over 500 years of vicissitudes while retaining well-preserved Ming-style architecture. The village got its name from a clear spring at the foot of Shamoya Mountain in the southeast, which never dries up throughout the year, forming a pond. The villagers built stone walls around the pond and raised it to form a well, hence the village’s name.

Built against the mountains, Jingtan Ancient Village centers around 72 ancient houses that once belonged to the son-in-law of the Ming Dynasty's Prince of Heng, Bin. It features a uniquely styled ancient residential complex anchored by the Zhang Family Courtyard, Wu Family Courtyard, and Sun Family Courtyard. It is also one of the better-preserved ancient villages in Shandong Province.

Transportation: Take bus No. 11 from Qingzhou Railway Station to the terminal, then transfer to the Jingtan Ancient Village tourist shuttle bus to reach the site.

Self-driving route: Exit the Qingdao-Yinchuan Expressway at Qingzhou West, drive south along S230 toward Qingzhou City. Continue south through downtown Qingzhou to reach the old South Ring Road (S325). Drive west along the old South Ring Road, then turn left at Wangfu Subdistrict Office and continue south for 10 kilometers (tourist signs are available along the way).
