Qingzhou Mihe National Wetland Park

Qingzhou Mihe National Wetland Park is a national-level wetland park.

The Mihe Cultural Tourism Resort National Wetland Park stretches from one kilometer south of Qingzhou’s New South Ring Road in the south to the Jiaoji Railway freight line in the north, with a total length of 11.8 kilometers. The park spans a total area of 1,100 hectares, of which 831 hectares are wetlands, accounting for a wetland rate of 75.54%.

As Qingzhou’s mother river, the Mihe River suffered severe damage to its wetland ecosystem during the 1980s and 1990s due to unregulated sand mining and sewage discharge. Starting in 2010, Qingzhou launched comprehensive ecological restoration efforts along the Mihe River, focusing on pollution control, water management, and returning farmland to wetlands. A large-scale Mihe River ecological restoration project aimed at rehabilitating the wetlands and creating a livable environment was initiated. To date, the project has invested 60 million yuan to build a wastewater treatment plant with a daily capacity of 50,000 tons, and laid 59,900 meters of sewage pipelines. These measures centralize the collection and treatment of domestic and industrial wastewater along the river, achieving separation of rainwater and sewage.

The overall planning of the Mihe Cultural Tourism Resort Wetland Park is divided into an ecological conservation zone, an ecological restoration zone, a science education and publicity zone, a rational use zone, and a management and service zone. The establishment of the national wetland park will play a positive role in preserving and improving the habitats of wildlife in the Mihe region, protecting the integrity of the wetland ecosystem and biodiversity, enhancing the basic service infrastructure of the Mihe Cultural Tourism Resort, and promoting the development of tourism.
