Duan Village Martyrs' Shrine

Duan Village Martyrs' Shrine is a cultural relic protection unit of Shandong Province.

Duan Village Martyrs' Shrine is located in Gaoliu Town, Qingzhou City, dating back to 1945.

Between South Duan Village and North Duan Village, there was originally an Iron Pagoda Temple, which was bombed into ruins by the Japanese during the War of Resistance against Japan. On August 15, 1945, after Japan's surrender, the People’s Government of Sibian County converted the site into Duan Village Martyrs' Shrine. The shrine was tragically destroyed by the reactionary Kuomintang in 1947, rebuilt with funding from the Yidu County Government in 1952, and has undergone multiple renovations since.

The exhibition area of Duan Village Martyrs' Shrine is divided into five parts. The main Hall of Martyrs on the front primarily displays brief biographies of 648 martyrs and the battle relics they used; the first exhibition area on the east side is the Party History Highlights section, mainly introducing the history of the Communist Party of China and the development of the Party organization in northern Qingzhou; the second exhibition area on the west side showcases the heroic deeds and relics of the "Nine Martyrs from One Family" and the "Three Martyrs from One Family"; the third and fourth exhibition areas on the south side mainly introduce typical figures and events from the Anti-Japanese War and the Liberation War periods. Today, we will mainly visit the central Hall of Martyrs, as well as the west-side exhibition halls featuring the heroic deeds and relics of the "Nine Martyrs from One Family" and the "Three Martyrs from One Family."

Currently, Duan Village Martyrs' Shrine is the earliest in Weifang City and the largest in Shandong Province; it has been designated as a "Key Cultural Relic Protection Unit" in Weifang City and Shandong Province, as well as a Weifang City National Defense Education Base. It has also been recognized by Qingzhou City as a "Qingzhou City Cadre Education Base," "Qingzhou City Non-Party Representative Education Base," and more.

On June 23, 2015, Duan Village Martyrs' Shrine was announced by the People’s Government of Shandong Province as part of the fifth batch of provincial-level cultural relic protection units in Shandong Province.

Gaoliu Town: "Gaoliu Town of Qingzhou City is located in the northern part of Qingzhou, encompassing 51 administrative villages, with a population of 34,000 and a total area of 59.6 square kilometers. The arable land area spans 56,000 mu, and it lies ten kilometers south of downtown Qingzhou. The Jiqing Expressway, Dongqing Expressway, and Qingken Highway intersect within the town area and feature large-scale interchanges, giving it very prominent transportation advantages.
