Site of the Qingfengdian Battle

The Site of the Qingfengdian Battle is a cultural heritage site protected by Hebei Province.

The Site of the Qingfengdian Battle is located in Xihé Village, Qingfengdian Town, Dingzhou City. To commemorate the historically significant "Great Victory at Qingfengdian" and honor the revolutionary martyrs, the "Qingfengdian Battle Martyrs' Cemetery" was constructed.

In October 1947, Commander Zhu De and Commander Nie Rongzhen directed the Shanxi–Chahar–Hebei Field Army to launch the "Qingfengdian Battle" in Dingzhou City, Hebei Province. This battle achieved a major victory that "turned the tide of the war in North China" and paved the way for the liberation of Shijiazhuang as well as for the arrival of the Party Central Committee, Chairman Mao, and their establishment at Xibaipo to command the "Three Major Campaigns." After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the Dingzhou Municipal People’s Government built the "Qingfengdian Battle Martyrs' Cemetery" in Xihé Village, Qingfengdian Town—the center of the battlefield—to commemorate the historic "Great Victory at Qingfengdian" and honor the revolutionary martyrs. In the square in front of the cemetery gates stands a grand "Memorial Archway," on the front of which is inscribed “Loyal Service to the People.” The horizontal inscription of the archway reads: “Absolute Loyalty and Heroism Admired by All, Undying Spirit and Enduring Righteousness.” It is truly awe-inspiring. The cemetery is enclosed by a two-meter-high brick wall. Towering pines and cypresses lend an especially solemn and reverent atmosphere to the grounds. Among the trees stands the simple yet elegant "Memorial Pavilion," built with white stone and green tiles. Atop the pavilion is a statue of a "People’s Liberation Army soldier holding a rifle"—a sight that commands respect. Inside the pavilion stands a tall "Memorial Stele," with the four bold characters “Legacy of Yan and Zhao” engraved on the front. Standing before them for a while stirs deep emotions.

On February 7, 2001, the People’s Government of Hebei Province designated the "Site of the Qingfengdian Battle" as a provincial-level cultural heritage protection unit and a base for revolutionary tradition education.
