The former site of the Shandong Military Region Headquarters is a cultural heritage protection unit of Shandong Province.

The former site of the Shandong Military Region Headquarters is located in Beiku Town, Lanshan District, Rizhao City, dating back to 1943–1944.

On June 23, 2015, the former site of the Shandong Military Region Headquarters was designated by the People's Government of Shandong Province as part of the fifth batch of Provincial-level Cultural Heritage Protection Units in Shandong.

Beiku Town: Beiku Town is located at the junction of two provinces (Shandong and Jiangsu) and three cities (Rizhao, Linyi, and Lianyungang). To the north lies Shenggong Mountain, and to the south flows the Xiuzhen River. The Pinglan Railway and Provincial Highway 342 run through the central part of the town. It currently administers 64 villages, has a population of 50,000, and covers a total area of 96 square kilometers. It is known as the “Granary of Rizhao” and the “Hometown of Vegetables.”

Beiku derives its name from an imperial stele pavilion bestowed upon Ma Wu, Minister of War during the Eastern Han Dynasty. The story of “Confucius learning from Xiang Tuo” is still widely told among locals. The area boasts rich mineral resources including iron ore, medium sand, granite, as well as underground water sources.
