Dachengzi Site

The Dachengzi Site is a cultural heritage protection unit of Linyi City.

The Dachengzi Site is located in Dachengzi Village, Zhuangwu Town, Lanling County. It dates back to the Neolithic Age, the Zhou Dynasty, and the Han Dynasty, and is classified as an ancient site.

Located within and to the north of Dachengzi Village in Zhuangwu Town, Lanling County, Linyi City, the site lies to the west of the Xiaoshuhe River and approximately 300 meters south of the Wu River. It occupies a gently sloping high terrace, measuring about 250 meters in both east-west and north-south directions, with a total distribution area of about 62,500 square meters. The cultural layers are richly deposited, and surface-collected artifacts include ding feet from the Dawenkou culture, ding feet from the Longshan culture, li feet from the Shang and Zhou periods, and remnants of Han Dynasty tubular tiles. In 1979, a white gui pottery vessel from the Dawenkou culture was unearthed here. Villagers have also discovered exquisitely crafted Han Dynasty roof tiles at the site. It stands as an important remnant of Neolithic, Zhou, and Han Dynasty cultures in southern Shandong. The location of the site corresponds to that of the Wuyang Marquisate, which was enfeoffed by the Han court during the mid-Western Han Dynasty. In recent years, preliminary research by municipal cultural relics experts suggests that this site may be the location of the Wuyang Marquisate’s city from the Western Han period.

The Dachengzi Site is a fourth-batch municipal-level cultural heritage protection unit.
