The Tomb of Gao Chai (Zi Gao) is a cultural heritage protection unit of Linyi City.

The Tomb of Gao Chai (Zi Gao) dates back to the Spring and Autumn period. It is located north of Liujia Baozi Village in Lanling Town, Lanling County, Linyi City, about 500 meters west of the Linxu Highway. In December 2011, it was designated as one of the third batch of municipal-level key cultural heritage protection units in Linyi. Gao Chai, courtesy name Zi Gao, was a native of the State of Wei during the Spring and Autumn period, a disciple of Confucius, who once governed the State of Wei and studied in Lanling. The tomb mound has a diameter of approximately 25 meters, a height of about 5 meters, and a circumference of about 215 meters, covering an area of around 2,790 square meters. Atop the high earthen mound of the tomb is a stele erected in the 20th year of the Jiaqing reign of the Qing Dynasty (1815), featuring a round top and square base, standing 1.90 meters tall, 0.72 meters wide, and 0.28 meters thick. The front of the stele bears an inscription in the center: “Tomb of Gao Chai, Courtesy Name Zi Gao, a Worthy Disciple of Confucius.” On the right is inscribed “Granted the title of Marquis of Gongcheng in the Tang Dynasty,” and on the left, “Granted the title of Count of Gongcheng in the Song Dynasty.” Except for the phrase “Disciple of Confucius,” which is written in seal script, the rest is in clerical script. The reverse side of the stele contains a brief account of the Gao family lineage from Gao Chai onward, with 12 lines of varying character counts in regular script, inscribed by Li Xuezhou, a scholar from nearby Daishan. To the southeast of the tomb mound stands a ginkgo tree about 8 meters tall with a canopy covering approximately 30 square meters. The tomb of Gao Chai is the burial site of Gao Chai, one of the Seventy-Two Wise Men of Confucius from the pre-Qin period, and provides important material for the study of Gao Chai’s life and achievements as well as the Confucian culture of the pre-Qin era. It is currently a municipal-level key cultural relic protection unit in Linyi City.
