Longtan Canyon Scenic Area in Mancheng

The Longtan Canyon Scenic Area is located 20 kilometers north of Mancheng County and includes two major attractions: Longmen Lake and Longtan Canyon. The area features a harmonious blend of mountains and water, with picturesque scenery—lush green hills, crystal-clear waters, verdant grasslands, steep cliffs, and continuous mountain ranges, earning it the nickname “Little Guilin of the North.” Longmen Lake spans an area of 10 square kilometers, resembling a radiant pearl nestled among the surrounding peaks. The lake area is often shrouded in mist, with water and sky merging into one, its shimmering surface creating a serene and delightful atmosphere. The interplay of lake and mountain views is truly breathtaking.

Longtan Canyon stretches 4 kilometers in length, winding southward from the southeastern side of Longmen Lake. It reaches a maximum width of 200 meters, narrows to just 8 meters at its tightest point, and has a maximum depth of 30 meters. The canyon features steep cliffs on both sides, rugged rocks, and cascading waterfalls that hang like strings of emeralds from great heights. At the canyon floor, mountain springs gush forth, waterfalls flow like molten silver, and foamy waves pile up like snow, creating a painting-like landscape. Visitors wandering through the canyon feel as if they’ve entered a fairyland. The scenic area offers boat rides, fishing ponds, and natural swimming pools, making it an ideal summer retreat.
