The Black Dragon Pool Scenic Area is located 40 kilometers northwest of Laiwu City, at the entrance to the Jiulong and Jiutian grand canyons. Notable attractions include Black Dragon Pool and Sky-Supporting Cliff. The waters of Black Dragon Pool are an inky emerald green, clear and jade-like. During spring and autumn, if you stand by the pool at noon and look up at the sky, you can see a bright star — this is the famous “Dragon Pool Star Emerges” spectacle, one of the ancient “Eight Scenic Spots of Laiwu.” The Sky-Supporting Cliff beside Black Dragon Pool soars straight into the clouds, steep and unclimbable. The cliff face features natural rock formations such as “Black Dragon Howls to the Sky,” “Jade Rabbit Gazes at the Pool,” and “Cosmic Nebula,” which take on vivid hues due to changes in rock color and light. These formations resemble exquisite murals that stir the imagination. Here, visitors can fully appreciate the wonders crafted by nature.
