Dawangzhuang Town is located in the northwest of Laicheng District, bordering Jinan to the north, Tai’an to the west, and Zibo to the east. It covers a total area of 163 square kilometers, governs 63 administrative villages, and has a population of 46,000. It is recognized as one of “China’s Top 100 Forestation and Greening Townships,” one of “Shandong Province’s First Batch of Strong Tourism Townships,” and one of “Shandong Province’s Eco-Civilization Townships.” The area boasts unique terrain, beautiful mountains and rivers, and abundant tourism resources, including numerous cultural and natural attractions. Highlights include the ruins of the “Tianmen Pass” section of the Qi Great Wall, sites related to the Huang Chao Rebellion, the ecologically pristine Xiangshan Mountain, Wangshimen Village—the highest-altitude village in the province, the vast natural meadow known as “Forest Sea Grassland,” the ancient Tang Dynasty chestnut orchard, one of Laiwu’s Eight Scenic Spots “Dragon Pool Star Appearance,” and the Qilu Grand Canyon composed of multiple gorges such as “Jiutian Grand Canyon,” “Shimen Grand Canyon,” and “Locust Flower Valley.”

In recent years, Dawangzhuang Town has adhered to market-oriented economic principles, adopting a model where “the government provides policies and resources, while enterprises supply capital and carry out construction.” This approach has continuously deepened strategic cooperation with Shandong Lujian Group, leveraging the strength of major enterprises to build a robust tourism industry. Under the premise of “strict protection, unified management, rational development, and sustainable utilization” of tourism resources, Lujian Group invested in establishing Shandong Xiangshan Senjing Tourism Development Co., Ltd., which is fully responsible for the integrated development of the town’s tourism resources. Throughout the tourism development process, both the town and the enterprise have reached a consensus on building a comprehensive tourism framework. They engaged the Landscape Architecture Department of Tongji University in Shanghai to conduct multiple field investigations, repeated evaluations, and scientific planning. This collaboration led to the proposal of a development concept integrating the “mountain” and “town” into a unified tourism destination. The scenic areas around Xiangshan were scientifically integrated and holistically packaged, expanding the scenic zone from 17 to 53 square kilometers. This initiative achieved integration in “mountain-town” planning, infrastructure construction, and public services. By maintaining a broad vision, leveraging large enterprises, driving development through major projects, and promoting integration across sectors, the town is accelerating the cultivation of its eco-tourism industry and striving to establish itself as a new mountain resort town focused on wellness and leisure.

Public Transport:

There are intercity bus routes from Laiwu City Bus Terminal to Dawangzhuang Town.

Self-Driving Guide:

1. Take the Boshan–Laiwu Expressway, exit at Laiwu (North), then follow Lai Cheng Avenue to Yangli Town, Dawangzhuang Town, and Xiangshan Scenic Area (Tianshang Renjia Tourist Zone).

2. From Jinan, go via Zhongkong, Xiyin, Qixingtai, to Laiwu (Dulucun), then to Xiangshan Scenic Area (Tianshang Renjia Tourist Zone).

3. Take the Jinan–Qingdao Expressway, exit at Laiwu (North), then follow Lai Cheng Avenue to Yangli Town, Dawangzhuang Town, and Xiangshan Scenic Area (Tianshang Renjia Tourist Zone).

4. Take the Tai’an–Laiwu Expressway, head north from Yangzhuang Intersection in Laiwu, pass through Zhaili Town, Dawangzhuang Town, and reach Xiangshan Scenic Area (Tianshang Renjia Tourist Zone).
