Dazong Village

Dazong Village is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Dazong Village Scenic Area is located in Zhangwang Town, in the southwestern part of Tengzhou City, Shandong Province. It lies 4 kilometers east of the Beijing-Shanghai Railway and the Beijing-Fuzhou Expressway, 6 kilometers west of Weishan Lake, and 4 kilometers south of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. The village currently has 860 farming households with a population of 3,500. The total area of the village is 2,133,344 square meters, with a residential area of 390,000 square meters, farmland covering 1,210,008 square meters—including 607,978 square meters of arable land, 533,360 square meters of forested land, 68,670 square meters of orchards, and 533,336 square meters of industrial land. The village is divided into several functional zones: residential living area, agriculture-friendly industry zone, ecological agriculture zone, industrial zone, as well as planting, breeding, and comprehensive service areas.

The village has invested 158 million yuan to build Zongze Garden, covering an area of 400 mu, and 30 million yuan to restore the Jade Emperor Temple. It has also constructed a nursing home, cultural square, senior activity center, farmers’ library, public memorial hall, and police office. The village has been awarded various honors at different levels, including “National Star Village for Well-Off Construction,” “National Advanced Grassroots Party Organization,” “Top Ten Famous Villages in Shandong Province,” “Provincial-Level Civilized Village,” “Provincial-Level Sanitary Village,” “Provincial-Level Ecological Civilization Village,” “National AAA-Level Scenic Area,” and “Shandong Provincial Village with Distinctive Landscape.” It also ranks first among the economically strong villages in Zaozhuang City. Designated by multiple national departments including the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Construction, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Land and Resources, and State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission as one of the five model villages for new rural construction, it has been named a “Provincial Agricultural Tourism Demonstration Site” by the Shandong Provincial Tourism Bureau and Department of Agriculture, and is honored as the “Pearl of Southern Shandong.”

Dazong Village Scenic Area boasts a rich variety of plants, with over 100 families and more than 500 species, mainly including Japanese red pine, oriental arborvitae, black locust, sawtooth oak, eucommia, red maple, slash pine, golden willow, and camphor trees. Fruit trees mainly consist of apple, peach, pear, persimmon, apricot, jujube, cherry, and chestnut. The scenery is delightful, with the fragrance of fruits in the air.

In recent years, under the leadership of Comrade Zong Chengle, a National People’s Congress deputy, National Model Worker, Secretary of the Village Party Committee, and Chairman of Dazong Group, the village has united closely around the themes of scientific development and new rural construction. With focused efforts on construction and wholehearted dedication to development, the village has achieved rapid and sound progress in economic and social undertakings.

Dazong Village currently hosts eighteen enterprises spanning industries such as thermal power, starch production, mining, coal processing, logistics and transportation, biochemistry, machinery manufacturing, real estate development, as well as domestic and international trade.

Currently, residential housing in Dazong Village includes three types: two- or three-story well-off houses, villas, and youth apartments. There are over 960 well-off houses with an average per capita area of 65 square meters, more than 20 villas with living spaces ranging from 300 to 1,200 square meters, and a 12-story youth apartment accommodating 52 households. Bricks and tiles were provided free of charge during construction. The welfare benefits for villagers are also very generous: pension and medical insurance are uniformly arranged for villagers aged 30 and above, a monthly living subsidy of 200 yuan is provided for seniors over 70, and students admitted to high school, university, master's, and doctoral programs are awarded scholarships ranging from 8,000 to 50,000 yuan. Water, electricity, heating, and natural gas are all provided free of charge.

Dazong People’s Park is a large-scale park integrating leisure, entertainment, and commercial functions. It stretches 501 meters from north to south and 394 meters from east to west, covering a total area of about 296 mu. The park features a large parking lot, hotel, bathing beach, musical fountain, antique-style corridor, rockery, waterfall, trees, ancient pagoda, artificial river, pavilions, and lawns. It also includes highly modern entertainment facilities such as roller coasters and Ferris wheels, enhanced by state-of-the-art sound, light, and electrical technologies. The entire garden forms a cohesive whole, reflecting an overall design style that is humanistic, individualistic, and natural.
