Longyang Tourist Area

The Longyang Tourist Area is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

The Longyang Tourist Area in Tengzhou City is located 5 kilometers north of downtown Tengzhou, encompassing the entire Longyang Town, covering an area of 79 square kilometers. Situated at the border between Tengzhou and Zoucheng cities, it lies to the north of the hometown of Confucius and Mencius, south of the Su-Huai Plain, east of the Tai-Yi Mountain Range, and west of Weishan Lake, placing it on Shandong Province’s “Mountains, Rivers and Sages” tourism route. The tourist area boasts convenient transportation, with a well-connected land transport network. National Highway 104, the Beijing-Fuzhou Expressway, the Beijing-Shanghai Railway, and the - railway all run through the area. Shanguo North Road serves as the main thoroughfare from downtown Tengzhou into the tourist area, with only a 15-minute drive to reach it.

The tourist area centers around the Longshan Mountain, Longhu Lake, and Longhe River, which are designated as natural scenic areas of Tengzhou City. The main peak of Longshan Mountain stands at an elevation of 517 meters, making it the second highest peak in Tengzhou, with 16 peaks over 170 meters above sea level stretching 18 kilometers in length. Longhu Lake (Mahe Reservoir) covers a water area of 13 square kilometers, making it the largest artificial lake in Tengzhou and the only large-scale reservoir in the city. Longhe River is one of the five major rivers in Tengzhou, originating from the mountainous area north of Xiangcheng in Zoucheng City. It flows from northeast to southwest into Weishan Lake, with a total length of 64 kilometers and a drainage area of 535 square kilometers. Longshan Mountain extends undulatingly from northeast to southwest, its winding ridges resembling a dragon cradling the shimmering Longhu Lake in its embrace, while echoing with the nearby Longhe River, forming a rare feng shui landscape known as “Dragon Mountain and Dragon Water, Twin Dragons Playing with a Pearl.”

Longshan Mountain extends undulatingly from northeast to southwest, its winding ridges resembling a dragon cradling the shimmering Longhu Lake in its embrace, while echoing with the nearby Longhe River, forming a rare feng shui landscape known as “Dragon Mountain and Dragon Water, Twin Dragons Playing with a Pearl.” The scenic area boasts beautiful landscapes, with “Clear Clouds over Dragon Ridge” ranking first among the “Eight Ancient Scenic Spots of Old Teng.” Since ancient times, it has inspired numerous literary works, including the couplet by Qing Dynasty Grand Secretary Liu Yong: “Gazing south at Weishan Lake, I’m reminded of moonlit nights; looking north to Dragon Ridge, I admire the radiant clouds,” which remains widely recited. The mountain features rugged rocks, lush vegetation, with traces of the Sacred Well Spring and the ruins of Seventy-Two Temples still visible. Tales of the Silver Cave and Old Ox Rock are widely circulated. Longhu Lake nestles at the foot of the mountain, with a meandering shoreline full of hidden tranquility. Its surface is dotted with rippling blue waters and constant boat traffic. The interplay of mountain hues and water reflections, along with the harmony of rippling waves and birdsong, creates a captivating scene. Longhe River flows out from the left side of Longhu Lake, then winds along the side of Longshan Mountain. With its crystal-clear waters and lush banks, the area offers the fragrance of ripe wheat, blooming vegetables and flowers, evoking a delightful rural charm that beckons visitors back, while the joy of local customs encourages them to stay.
