Dongcaodong Site

The Dongcaodong Site is a cultural heritage protection unit of Shandong Province.

The Dongcaodong Site is an ancient cultural site in central and southern Shandong. It was discovered in 1964. Located 200 meters northeast of Dongcaodong Village, Jiehe Township, Tengzhou City, it lies about 400 meters east of the Jiehe River. The site covers an area of 30,000 square meters with a cultural deposit of approximately 1.5 meters. Artifacts collected at the site include tripod cauldrons, li cooking vessels, jars made of sandy grey pottery, basins of fine grey pottery, and polished black pottery with ring feet. These relics belong to various periods including the Dawenkou Culture, Longshan Culture, Yueshi Culture, as well as the Shang and Zhou dynasties, demonstrating a long period of continuity. It is an important ancient cultural site in the region.

In 2013, the Dongcaodong Site was announced by the People's Government of Shandong Province as part of the fourth batch of provincial-level cultural heritage protection units in Shandong.

Jiehe Town: Jiehe Town in Tengzhou City, Shandong Province, is located on the North China Plain within the Huai River basin. It covers an area of 83 square kilometers, has a population of 80,000, and 68,000 mu of arable land. In recent years, Jiehe’s economy has rapidly developed, urban construction has flourished, and it is becoming an attractive destination for investment and business.

Jiehe Town in Tengzhou City enjoys prominent geographical advantages. The Beijing–Fuzhou Expressway, National Highway 104, and the Beijing–Shanghai Railway all run through the town from north to south. It lies 70 kilometers south of the Beijing–Hangzhou Grand Canal and borders Weishan Lake to the west. The journey from Jiehe to Jinan, the provincial capital, takes only two hours, making transportation convenient and highly accessible.
