Introduction:

The former site of the Museum Marking the Victory of Mao Zedong Thought is located on the west side of Bayi Square (middle section of Bayi Avenue) in Nanchang City. Construction began in October 1968, with a team of prominent architectural design experts from across the province assembled for its collective design. Originally named the Museum Marking the Victory of Mao Zedong Thought, it was called the Jiangxi Provincial Exhibition Hall in 1971, the Jiangxi Provincial Revolutionary History Exhibition Hall in 1973, the Jiangxi Provincial Revolutionary Museum in 1978, the Jiangxi Provincial Exhibition Building in 1980, the Jiangxi Provincial Exhibition Hall again in 1984, and has been known as the Jiangxi Provincial Exhibition Center since 1992. The building faces east and has a mountain-shaped floor plan, with a total of six floors (five above ground and one semi-underground), and elevators that go directly to the top floor. It covers a total land area of 18,722.3 square meters, with a total built-up area of 38,000 square meters. The front of the building features four lighthouses, and the central colonnade is adorned with seven stone bas-reliefs that depict seven important milestones in China’s revolution. All exterior walls are decorated with specially made beige matte glazed bricks from Jingdezhen, Jiangxi, giving the entire structure a majestic, solemn, and elegant appearance that reflects traditional Chinese architectural artistry. It stands as the most iconic building of its era on Bayi Square during the 1960s and 1970s, and was also the most influential and largest exhibition venue in the province at the time, serving as an important window for political, economic, technological, and cultural exchanges.
