Xubu Ancient Town

Originally named Xujia Bu, Xubu Town was established in the late Yuan and early Ming dynasties. Historically, it served as an important hub for water transport and was renowned for its pig production (notably the Liuhua pig), earning a mention in the Cihai (a prestigious Chinese encyclopedia). Its strategic location provided convenient land and water connections, making it a bustling trade center accessible to five provinces. As the main commercial distribution hub in the central-northern part of Duchang County, it ranked first among the county’s five historic ancient towns. The once-prosperous Xujia Bu suffered severe damage during the Anti-Japanese War when it was burned and looted by Japanese invaders. After the liberation, it gradually recovered and developed. In the 1990s, driven by the new wave of reform and opening-up, the town’s construction saw rapid progress. In recent years, Xubu Town has seized opportunities, pursued innovation, and intensified urban development efforts, transforming the town’s landscape entirely. Xubu Town warmly welcomes visitors from all walks of life to invest, sightsee, and tour.
