Ba zhong City is an ancient tea-growing region where tea cultivation began during the ancient Ba Kingdom over 3,000 years ago. In recent years, the city has vigorously implemented the "Double Hundred" Tea Project, breathing new life into this age-old tea area, with “Pingchang Selenium-Rich Tea” being the most prominent example. The main production area of Pingchang Selenium-Rich Tea is located in the central part of the selenium-rich belt of the Daba Mountains, featuring a suitable climate and fertile soil, free from industrial and heavy metal pollution. As a result, the tea produced here possesses the characteristics of being “high-altitude, eco-friendly, and selenium-rich.” In recent years, the tea industry in Pingchang County has continuously optimized and upgraded, with the tea planting base already taking initial shape. The planting area has reached 150,000 mu, and 12 core demonstration sites for tea production and a 36,000-mu selenium-rich tea demonstration belt have been established. The county insists on high-end intervention in key areas such as variety selection, planting and management, production and processing, brand creation, and market expansion. It focuses on building a high-altitude selenium-rich tea industry belt along the circular route from Yuntai to Qiujiato Luming to Bishan to Zhenlong. Additionally, a standardized high-yield tea demonstration zone has been established in Luming Town; organic tea development has been prioritized in towns such as Desheng and Shuanglu; and through technical cooperation with the Tea Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, a 10,000-mu tea industry demonstration belt and a national-level modern tea science and technology demonstration park have been constructed in Longwei Village, Yuntai Town, showing promising market prospects.
