Shenwu Mountain derives its name from the frequent presence of fog on the mountain. Whenever the weather clears after rain or snow, thick fog often envelops the entire mountain. At such times, standing atop the peak, you can see valleys and ridges shrouded in a vast sea of mist, with floating clouds drifting slowly by. When the wind blows, the spectacle becomes even more breathtaking—entire forests of bamboo, -, and the sea of mist seem to sway. This is also the most spectacular sight of Shenwu Mountain, known as the “Confluence of Three Seas,” which is quite magnificent. Waves of “divine mist” roll in, and the steep, rugged peaks suddenly become hazy and indistinct, resembling lotus blossoms appearing and disappearing, now near, now far, amid a thick, misty haze and an air heavy with the promise of rain. Then, suddenly, the sky clears and sunlight filters down through the dappled leaves in scattered golden flecks.
