Shangtang Hot Springs

Shangtang Hot Springs, located in the southern scenic area of Jiugong Mountain within Shangtang Township. In the mid-1980s, the health department established a hot spring sanatorium here. Today, through investment attraction, the Shangtang Hot Springs Development Co., Ltd., founded in May 2002, has invested in the development. It has now been developed into a hot spring resort that combines tourism, bathing, and therapy, enabling further development and utilization of the hot springs.

The Shangtang Hot Springs Eco-Health Zone is located in Shangtang Township in the western part of Wuning County, Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province, at the foot of the main peak of Jiugong Mountain in the middle section of the Mufu Mountain Range, 77 kilometers from Wuning County and 55 kilometers from Xiushui County. It is a multifunctional hot spring eco-health tourism destination in northwestern Jiangxi. The hot spring eco-health zone lies in the southern part of Shangtang Township, boasting beautiful natural scenery and comfortable hot springs, and is hailed as a “pearl” nestled deep in the northern mountains of Jiangxi. The Shangtang Hot Springs are formed by groundwater from deep within the earth's crust under the influence of geothermal activity along fault lines. The spring water temperature ranges between 30–45 degrees Celsius, with a maximum of 68 degrees Celsius. The natural flow rate of the hot springs is about 3–6 cubic meters per hour. The spring water is of the bicarbonate type and contains minerals and trace elements such as sulfur, lithium, iron, zinc, cobalt, molybdenum, and nickel. The scenic area combines hot spring therapy, leisure vacations, sightseeing, mountain fitness activities, business meetings, and gourmet entertainment. It serves as a transportation and scenic corridor connecting the Wuning Lake Scenic Area in Jiangxi to the Jiugong Mountain Scenic Area in Hubei Province. Key attractions in the area include Shangtang Hot Springs, the Wu-Chu Ancient Post Road, and Shiba Zi. The area has been under planning and construction since 2003, and initial development of the hot springs has been completed, including the construction of a hot spring resort with a certain level of reception capacity.
