Liushan

Liushan is located to the southwest of Wuning County, about 12 kilometers from the county seat, with an elevation of approximately 580 meters. It stands alone without any adjacent mountains, rising majestically like an ink brush, offering picturesque scenery and home to many rich folk legends.

Liushan features stunning scenery and numerous historic landmarks. On the mountain, there are Stone Well, Academy, Yongcui Pavilion, and Stone Gate with poems carved on the gate walls. Halfway up the mountain, there are Nine Longevity Spots, Eighteen Temples, Dragon Rock, and Buddha Rock. On its shady side lie Liu Hun’s Hermitage (one of the Eight Scenic Spots of Wuning), Reading Terrace, and others. However, due to the passage of time, some cultural relics have only ruins remaining, while natural attractions such as Dragon–Buddha Twin Rocks, Chessboard Stone, and Reading Terrace remain intact. Especially from the Chessboard Stone at the summit, when you look out, the Xi River below resembles a slender ribbon winding through the mountains and ridges. In the distance, the shimmering waters and drifting clouds of Lushan West Sea create a scene of thousands of islands like scattered pearls—absolutely breathtaking.

Currently developed tourist activities at Liushan include mountain climbing and adventure, as well as water sports like speed boating.

Xinning Town: Located at the southern gateway of Wuning County, Xinning Town borders the Development Zone to the east, Xi River to the west, Jing’an County to the south, and the county seat to the north. Situated in the suburbs and separated from Wuning County’s urban area by a river, it is considered an urban town.

Originally named Huangduan Town, it underwent administrative restructuring in 2003 during the merger of towns and townships. The former Huangduan Town, Nanshi Township, and Yanyang Township were combined to form Xinning Town. It administers 16 administrative villages, 176 villager groups, covers an area of 295 square kilometers, and has a current population of 23,560. The town government is located in Huangduan Township.
