Yueyuan Ruins

The Yueyuan Ruins are a cultural tourism attraction.

Located southeast of Saiyang Town at the confluence of two streams in Shimen Gully. According to Mao Deqi’s *Records of Mount Lu*, “Exiting Shimen Gully and proceeding a short distance along the official road leads to Yuejia Market, from where one can ascend to Huacheng…” In the third year of the Shaoxing era during the Southern Song Dynasty (1133), Yue Fei settled his family here, purchasing land and houses. In the fourteenth year of the Zhengde era during the Ming Dynasty (1519), when Prince Ning Zhu Chenhao rebelled in Nanchang, captured Jiujiang, and triggered turmoil, the Yue descendants fled and the Yueyuan estate was subsequently abandoned. In 1997, a bronze seal inscribed with the words “Once Amidst Arms” and several cliff inscriptions were discovered in succession: “Yue Family’s Famous Garden” (regular script, dated to the seventh year of the Chunyou era during the Southern Song Dynasty), “Peony Pavilion,” “Shimen Hidden Spring,” “Pillow on the Stream,” and “Rinse the Rocks.”
