Guixi Tianmen Mountain Eco-Tourism Area

The development of the Tianmen Mountain Eco-Tourism Area has filled the gap of lacking the wonder of towering mountains and steep ridges in the Longhu Mountain scenic area, enriching the tourism experience of Longhu Mountain. The Tianmen Mountain Eco-Tourism Area is located in Shangqing Town of the Longhu Mountain scenic area, directly north-south across from the Celestial Master’s Mansion. It is said to be the place where the Heavenly Master Zhang ascended to heaven and became immortal.

Tianmen Mountain features steep terrain, with its highest peak exceeding 1,300 meters above sea level. Along the mountain, there are 28 scenic spots including Chessboard Rock, Dragon Gate Rock, and Dragon Well. The area is home to numerous waterfalls in diverse forms, among which the Sister Waterfalls, Qingyun Waterfall, and Langdang Jetty are particularly remarkable. Tianmen Mountain boasts dense forests and rich biodiversity, with hundreds of species of trees and shrubs such as camphor, oak, chestnut, and cypress, as well as various precious medicinal herbs and rare flowers. The area also hosts wildlife such as bears, monkeys, wild boars, and azaleas.

Shangqing Town: A town under the jurisdiction of Guixi City. It is the birthplace of the Orthodox Unity Sect of Taoism. In 1958, it was established as Shangqing Commune, renamed Shangqing Reclamation Farm in 1960, reinstated as Shangqing Commune in 1968, and rebuilt as Shangqing Town in 1984. Located in the southwestern part of the city, along the middle reaches of the Shangqing Stream, it is 31 kilometers from the urban area. Covering an area of 87 square kilometers, it has a population of 18,000. The Yingxia Railway and the Gong (Dian) Zi (Xi) Highway run through the town. It administers the Fuguan Neighborhood Committee and ten village committees: Shangqing, Hanpu, Jianpu, Guizhou, Chengmen, Shawan, Lishan, Quanyuan, Niwan, and Tongqiao.
