The "Four Gates Mountain" Red Fortress

The first red political power in the northeastern Jiangxi Soviet Area — the "Four Gates Mountain" Red Fortress in Baitian Township, Guixi. Baitian Township is located in the northeast of Guixi, with over 600 revolutionary martyrs from the entire township, including more than 300 who sacrificed their lives heroically at the Four Gates Mountain Red Fortress in Yaojia Village Committee. The "Four Gates Mountain" Red Fortress in Baitian Township was the first red political power established under the leadership of Chairman Fang Zhimin in the northeastern Jiangxi Soviet Area. It lasted for eight years, but was lost during the Fifth Encirclement Campaign due to betrayal. Nineteen comrades in the fortress put up a fierce resistance until they blew up the fortress and died together with the enemy. To commemorate the revolutionary martyrs, a martyrs' monument was erected at the site of the "Four Gates Mountain" Red Fortress in 1952.
