Yao Tian Site

The “Yao Tian” pond on the upper pond was once the residence of Wang Anshi’s great-grandfather, Wang Ming, with remnants of bamboo groves and ponds still present. In the back, there is a fishing platform.

After resigning as prime minister, Wang Anshi often fished and reflected by the pond, and he wrote the poem *Fishing in Solitude at the Orchid Pond*. Nowadays, the Yao Tian Site has become a vegetable plot for villagers. To honor Wang Anshi, his nephew Boxiang named this natural all-stone area the “Jinggong Fishing Platform.” At the entrance to Yao Tian Village in the upper pond, a gate tower was built, with a stone plaque erected above it, inscribed in intaglio with the words “Eternal Respect for Jing and Locust,” signifying everlasting remembrance.
