Dengjiaxiang Huaguoshan Ecological Park. Here, flowers bloom in riotous colors, brimming with vitality; here, fields stretch green under fresh, clean air — this is the only provincial 4A-level rural tourism demonstration site in Dongxiang County to date: Huaguoshan Ecological Park. The park lies 4 kilometers from the county town, with a planned area of 5,000 mu and 2,000 mu already developed.

Under the correct leadership of the county Party committee and government, and with the specific guidance and strong support of the Tourism Bureau and other relevant departments, Dengjiaxiang has targeted the strategic goal of “taking the lead in the county, leading the city, and striving for the forefront in the province.” Following the development philosophy of “flowers every season, fruits three seasons a year, and greenery all year round,” the area highlights a functional layout of “one park, four zones.” The government invested 4 million yuan to plan and build high-standard infrastructure including water, electricity, and communication facilities, while also leveraging nearly 10 million yuan in social capital to improve basic functions such as reception, shopping, parking, and leisure. The park now has the capacity to receive 158,000 visitors annually.

Featuring “thousand-mu plantation” as its signature landscape, Huaguoshan Ecological Park promotes “organic agricultural leisure.” Leveraging National Highway 320 and the high-speed rail section through Dengjia, the scenic area develops corridor economics by focusing on the construction of tourism landscape belts along the north side of the highway and both sides of the high-speed railway. A series of agricultural, rural, and orchard landscapes unique to Dengjiaxiang are displayed along the route, ensuring a new view at every turn. This creates an integrated organic eco-agricultural leisure tourism demonstration base that combines trunk corridor functions, agricultural leisure, and sightseeing. The scenic area starts from National Highway 320 and covers areas around Zhoujia and Xinjian groups in Jifang Village and Xichen Group in Dengjia Village. It is divided into four parts: seedling cultivation zone, display and shopping zone, picking experience zone, and leisure fishing zone, forming the distinctive “one park, four zones” layout.

1. Seedling Cultivation Zone

The Seedling Cultivation Zone runs through the entire demonstration base, starting from National Highway 320, and includes two parts: the College-Graduate Village Officials’ Entrepreneurship Base and the Common People’s Family Business, covering an area of about 1,000 mu. The village cadres’ seedling cultivation demonstration base consists of 20 mu of “heart-linked fields” designated by the township government for cadres and local residents. With full technical support, the 20-mu nursery is expected to yield an average annual high production of over 1.4 million small and medium-sized shrubs such as Photinia × fraseri and Ligustrum fortunei. The college-graduate village officials’ entrepreneurship demonstration base covers approximately 100 mu and has now engaged over 20 local households in the nursery industry, increasing villagers’ per capita income by more than 3,000 yuan. The entire seedling cultivation zone resembles a magnificent brocade painting, delightful to the eye. Over 20 varieties of flowers and seedlings thrive in vibrant colors; cobblestone paths crisscross and wind through serene groves, while ponds mirror the sky like glass. It offers a perfect resting spot for weary farmers and a delightful leisure destination for urban visitors.

2. Display and Shopping Zone

The Display and Shopping Zone consists of shaped plants and a flower supermarket, covering an area of about 100 mu. The shaped plant garden fully showcases the “alternative” garden art of Chuanmiao Tree Art Garden. It features miniature ancient Chinese cities, using archways, bridges, and pagodas as the main artistic elements, with floral walls incorporating the concept of “Beautiful China.” Vertical greening displays the beauty of garden plants, while skillfully blending folk art and contemporary life. There are figures from Chinese folklore, as well as characters like Hada-clad beauties, Mickey Mouse, and Donald Duck. The area includes artificial rockeries, pavilions, and eco-friendly trash bins. The entire garden perfectly embodies the traditional Chinese gardening ideal of “made by man yet resembling nature.” The township officials’ flower supermarket covers an area of 2,000 square meters and mainly sells nearly 100 types of green plants such as fingered citrons, Clivia, and Spider Plants. Township officials take on roles as shopping guides, information officers, and technicians, aiming to create the largest, most comprehensive, and best-serviced flower and seedling supermarket in the county.

3. Picking Experience Zone

Located in the central part of the flower demonstration base, north of the high-speed rail, this zone allows visitors to experience the joy of rural tourism by picking specialty fruits on-site, enjoying ecological leisure and refreshing both body and mind. Its highlights include: First, large scale — with a total investment of 3 million yuan and covering 400 mu, including 6,000 square meters of fruit greenhouses. Advanced management techniques ensure three fruit harvests per year for visitors to pick. Second, diverse varieties — the base grows over 10 premium fruit varieties such as figs, white loquats, cherries, sweet corn, mulberries, strawberries, grapes, pitayas, flat peaches, and lemons. Over 20,000 ornamental plants such as fingered citrons and yews are intercropped with fruits, and fruits are further processed into products like fig preserves, fig wine, and fingered citron wine. Third, strong returns — all fruits are grown with organic fertilizer, ensuring environmental friendliness. Greenhouse materials use PEP Lider film, which helps with insulation and pest control, effectively boosting yields. Annual fruit production reaches 183,000 jin, with per-mu income of 34,000 yuan.

4. Leisure Fishing Zone

The Leisure Fishing Zone is located in the northernmost part of the base, covering about 200 mu. With an ecological construction philosophy, it seamlessly integrates attractions with nature: shimmering ponds, well-arranged bamboo hill pavilions, and playful homemade recreational facilities make it an ideal spot for a refreshing workout. Fishing spots are shaded by pavilions and umbrellas along the pond edges, and the entire fishpond is enclosed by trees and vine fences, offering a tranquil fishing environment. It is a prime eco-agricultural leisure tourism destination. In 2015, the Dengjiaxiang Party Committee and government actively planned tourism development by leveraging local natural resources and geographic advantages. They constructed supporting facilities such as rockeries and small gardens, aiming to establish a renowned new village of farmer villas.
