Tomb of Xieo Shizhong, the Imperial Examination Top Scorer
The tomb of Xieo Shizhong, the Imperial Examination Top Scorer, is a cultural relic protection unit of Ji’an County.
The tomb of Xieo Shizhong, the Imperial Examination Top Scorer, is located in Dengqiao Natural Village, Nanlou Village, Yongyang Town.
Xieo Shizhong was the thirteenth-generation descendant of the Qushan Xieo family. He was born in the 16th year of the Hongwu reign during the Ming Dynasty (1389), and died in the first year of the Hongxi reign (1425). In the year Xinmao of the Yongle reign (1411), he achieved the top score in the imperial examinations, becoming one of the 20 top scorers of that period. His tomb has been repaired and damaged multiple times over the years. During the land leveling campaign of the 1960s to 1970s, the tomb stele and stone statues in front of the tomb were buried in the fields. In 2002, descendants of the Xieo family renovated the site, and some remnants of the tomb stele and tomb stones still remain.
