Shikeng Scenic Area is a national AA-level tourist attraction.

Shikeng Village is situated in the northern part of Suichuan County, 5 kilometers from Xinjiang Township and 70 kilometers from the county seat. It is a small mountain village with a beautiful environment. Since 2007, the village has carried out both long-term and short-term planning for new rural construction with high standards and a forward-looking approach through a whole-village advancement model. It is dedicated to building an ecological and cultural tourism village. Relying on its unique thousand-year-old nanmu tree group and profound cultural heritage, the village strives to become a national-level ecological culture demonstration village. With a long history, Shikeng Village is home to historical relics such as ancient steles, ancestral halls, ancient bells, and stone lions. The village is predominantly inhabited by the Zou family, and its main source of income comes from forestry development and management, making it a major forestry village. It boasts the largest nanmu tree group in the province and even the country, featuring a unique ecological environment. The villagers carry on the culture of their ancestors in Shikeng, inspiring them to protect the ecology, cherish the environment, and pursue harmonious development. The village has been honored with titles such as “National Top Thousand Afforestation Village” and “Provincial Best Afforestation Village,” was recognized by the province as “The Most Beautiful Village in New Rural Construction,” and has also been awarded the title of “National Ecological Culture Village.”

Nowadays, the completion of the road connecting Xinjiang to Xiaping in Jinggangshan has greatly enhanced Xinjiang’s regional advantages, as it is only 30 kilometers from Xinjiang to Xiaping in Jinggangshan. As a result, Shikeng Village is presented with unprecedented development opportunities. Leveraging its profound ecological culture and humanistic environment, Shikeng can develop eco-tourism and integrate into the greater Jinggangshan tourism circle. Further development and promotion of attractions such as the “Thousand-Year Nanmu Tree Landscape,” “Natural Oxygen Bar,” and “Ancient Ancestral Halls” will promote economic growth through ecological culture. By playing the ecological card and enlivening the development stage, economic development and resource protection can complement each other. In 2008, the national event “Famous Personalities’ Eco-Tour of Jiangxi” conducted in-depth research in Shikeng Village, Xinjiang Township, and spoke highly of its ecological protection and construction efforts. This provided even greater encouragement for the villagers’ ecological conservation efforts. Building on the promotion of ecological culture and the preservation of the ecological environment, and following the principle of “industrializing ecological economy and commercializing ecological resources,” the village is striving to transform its ecological advantages into economic strengths. Converting ecological resources into a powerful driving force for eco-tourism presents excellent prospects for eco-tourism development.

Approximately 3 kilometers north of Shikeng Village (adjacent to Taihe County), there is a pristine secondary forest called Youdong, which can be developed as a tourist attraction together with the Shikeng Ecological Culture Village. This area enjoys well-preserved ecological conditions, with about 10,000 acres of existing secondary forest, rich vegetation, and no human disturbance. The forest features distinct and layered structures, with a large number of rare ancient trees and wildlife, including nationally protected second-class animals such as sika deer. There is an ancient temple on the mountain, built during the Ming Dynasty but damaged by the Taiping Army, leaving only ruins. The area is rich in natural ecological culture, with numerous ancient trees known as “living fossils.”

Xinjiang Township: Located in the northwest of Suichuan County, Xinjiang Township is 64 kilometers from the county seat. It borders Shuangqiao Township to the east, Yahedian Town to the south, Taihe County to the north, Jinggangshan City to the northwest, and Wudoujiang Township to the southwest. The township covers a total land area of 188.01 square kilometers, comprising 11 administrative villages, 91 villager groups, 2,307 households, and a population of 10,402.
