Shukou Tea
Shukou tea is produced on Shukouzhou Island in Maxi Town, Taihe County. Tea cultivation in this area began during the Tang Dynasty, over a thousand years ago. During the Chenghua era of the Ming Dynasty, the rare and renowned Gougu Nao tea from Suichuan County was introduced to Shukouzhou, significantly improving the quality of Shukou tea and establishing it as a locally famous variety. After careful processing, Shukou tea takes on the shape of a fishhook, with tightly twisted leaves and visible silvery tips. The tea liquor is bright, with a slight light green hue; the flavor is rich, smooth on the palate, and boasts a long-lasting, refreshing aftertaste that lingers in the throat. It was once listed as a tribute tea during the Qing Dynasty. In 1985, Shukou tea won second place in the Ji’an regional tea competition, and in 1987, it made its first appearance in the international market at the Canton Fair, where it was well received by foreign buyers.
