1. Location: Within Hengshi Village, Xinjiang Township.

2. Scenic Features: The terrain features a unique landform belonging to the Danxia landform type—high mountains and deep valleys. The valley is approximately 200 meters deep, and there is a ground fissure zone in the center of the mountain, about 300 meters long, which is so narrow that only one person can pass through sideways. By climbing up along the crevice, you can reach the mountaintop, offering a uniquely thrilling experience and a chance to test the climber’s willpower and endurance. It is an ideal place for leisure, fitness, and adventure tourism.

3. Historical and Cultural Background: There is a heavenly well at the top of the mountain. Legend has it that this was where wounded Red Army soldiers recuperated during the revolutionary period. To survive, they dug a well to store rainwater, which still provides water year-round. On the mountainside, there is a cave called the Red Army Cave. The cave is spacious and could accommodate over 200 people for meals and lodging. It is said to have been an activity site for the Red Army. Back then, to evade encirclement and attacks by the Nationalist army as well as reconnaissance by their aircraft, the Red Army hid in this cave, saving countless soldiers’ lives.

Hengshi Village: Hengshi Village was formed by merging the former Hengshi, Huangshi, and Jingxi villages. It is located southwest of Xinjiang Township, bordering Fumin Village of the same township to the east, connecting to Yaqian Town to the south, adjacent to Wudoujiang Township to the west, and neighboring Jinxia and Dazhuang villages to the north. It is the largest village in the township. The village consists of 22 villager groups, with a total population of 2,768. It was the starting point of the Long March of the Sixth Red Army Corps and also the former site of the Suichuan Branch of the Jiangxi Communist Labor University.
