Former Site of the Guangdong-Gan Soviet Government

The Former Site of the Guangdong-Gan Soviet Government is a cultural tourism attraction and a classic red tourism site.

Former Site of the Guangdong-Gan Soviet Government: In August 1933, the Guangdong-Gan Province was established according to the decision made at the 48th meeting of the Central People's Committee. On September 6, the Provisional Executive Committee of the Soviet of the Guangdong-Gan Province was founded in Pengjing Village, Huichang, with Zhong Shibin elected as chairman. On December 23, the First Workers', Peasants' and Soldiers' Congress of the Guangdong-Gan Province was convened. The congress elected a presidium of 29 members including Lin Boqu, Liu Xiao, and Zhong Shibin, and 12 honorary chairpersons including Stalin, Kalinin, Bo Gu, Luo Fu, Luo Mai, Mao Zedong, Xiang Ying, Zhang Guotao, Wang Jiaxiang, and others. Zhong Shibin was elected as Chairman of the Provincial Soviet Government, with Wang Fushan and Deng Xuelin as vice-chairmen. The congress passed resolutions supporting the Central Government, a telegram from the Guangdong-Gan Provincial Soviet Congress to the Red Army, and a public notice from the Guangdong-Gan Provincial Soviet Congress to the masses. The Guangdong-Gan Provincial Soviet Government had 14 departments, including the Military Department, Land Department, and Judiciary Department. Its offices were relocated from Pengjing to Wenwuba. The province covered an area of approximately 20,000 square kilometers with a population of 550,000.　

The site is a late Qing Dynasty building with a brick-and-wood structure, featuring a flush gable roof, a single-courtyard layout, a front hall spanning five bays (21 meters wide) and two bays deep (11.5 meters), covering a total area of 241 square meters. Its original appearance has been largely preserved. On the exterior walls of the hall, three slogans written by the Red Third Army Corps remain visible: "Organize Poor Peasants into Poor Peasants’ Associations," "Organize Hired Laborers into Hired Laborers’ Unions," and "Organize Workers into Trade Unions."
