The Former Site of the Guangdong-Guangxi Military District is a cultural tourism attraction.

Former Site of the Guangdong-Guangxi Military District — In February and March 1933, taking advantage of the main forces of the Red Army marching north to crush the Fourth Encirclement Campaign, the Guangdong Army repeatedly invaded the Central Soviet Area, posing a serious threat to its southern security. In April, the Central Revolutionary Military Commission decided to establish the Guangdong-Guangxi Military District in Yunmenling to unify military command along the southern front and repel the attacks of the Guangdong Army. In August, after the establishment of the Guangdong-Guangxi Provincial Soviet, the military district headquarters moved from Furongzhai in Yunmenling to Wenwuba. The district oversaw three combat sectors and one main force unit — the 22nd Red Army Division. Its commanders were successively Yang Yuebin, Bi Shidi, Zhang Yunyi, Zuo Quan, Gong Chu, and He Changgong, while its political commissars were successively Liu Xiao and He Changgong. After its establishment, following directives from the Central Revolutionary Military Commission, the Guangdong-Guangxi Military District directed the Red Army and local militias to launch successful offensives along the southern front. They cleared out dozens of local militia strongholds, repelled Guangdong Army attacks on the Soviet Area, effectively struck and pinned down the Guangdong Army stationed along the Fujian–Guangdong–Jiangxi borders, and helped consolidate and expand the southern region of the Soviet Area.　

To address the severe shortage of ammunition for the Red Army and local militias, as well as the need to treat wounded soldiers, the Guangdong-Guangxi Military District also established an arms factory and a hospital. In October 1934, as the main forces of the Central Red Army embarked on the Long March, the military district’s cadres and the 22nd Red Army Division were incorporated into the 9th Red Army Corps to serve as the left-wing rearguard, while the local militias remained in the Central Soviet Area and participated in the arduous guerrilla warfare.
